San Francisco City Hall Illuminated for Pride. Accessibility Guide

Friendly Like Me is honored to present the official Accessibility Guide for San Francisco Pride, 2024! One of the world’s largest, oldest, and most iconic Pride celebrations, SF Pride has been a destination event rooted in protest and held in a city long committed to being a haven for the LGBTQ+ community since 1970. 

The 2024 San Francisco Pride Festival is this Saturday & Sunday, June 29th– June 30th.  The Parade begins on Sunday, at 10:30 am, at Market near Beale Street and continues to the San Francisco Civic Center.  This parade runs for approximately four hours, so arrive early to find the best place to see it all! The free Celebration at Civic Center Plaza is on Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm, with tickets available for a Saturday morning Pride Breakfast

In addition to the plethora of Accessibility Amenities outlined below, SF Pride’s outstanding team has a live chat so guests can plan their visit and ask questions LIVE before, during, and after the event. Security and Bag Search

All guests of the SF Pride Festival will pass through security gates around the Civic Center Plaza festival grounds.

Friendly Notice: Bags are strongly discouraged within the Festival zone. Security will allow bags that are totally clear and smaller than 12” x 12” x 6”. Small clutch bags cannot exceed 4.5” x 6.5”. Fanny packs and crossbody bags must be smaller than 12” x 6” x 4”. Bags should not have buckles, grommets/hardware or décor that conceals any part of the bag’s contents. Bags will be searched at Security upon entrance to the festival grounds.  

Accessible Viewing Areas for the Main Stage

The Beacon of Love Main Stage is located directly in front of City Hall at the top of Civic Center Plaza.  There is a seated viewing platform and an ADA section directly in front of the stage. Wristbands for the Accessible viewing area of the Kaiser Permanente Main Stage will be available at the SF Pride Information Booth at Fulton and Larkin Streets.

Accessible Parade Viewing

The San Francisco Pride Parade will take place on Market Street beginning at 10:30 am on Sunday. The parade starts at Market and Beale and ends at Market and 8th Street, near the Pride Celebration at the Civic Center Plaza. 

If you have a disability and will need ADA or Grandstand Seating for the Parade please apply for that here in advance. The Accessible Grandstand area is near the culmination of the parade on Market Street between 7th and 8th. 

 

Accessible Bathrooms + Family Restrooms for Attendees

Accessible bathrooms are located within every block of Portable Restrooms on the map. The biggest block of Portable Restrooms is on Golden Gate between Larkin and Polk. These restrooms include several ADA-accessible and family-style restrooms.

Sign Language Interpretation

ASL interpreters are present on every stage, including the Main Stage, Grandstands, and Community stages. There are also ASL interpreters at the information booths.

Emergency Services

Screenshot 2024-06-24 at 3.19.13 PMSan Francisco Pride has dedicated medical and EMS staff in multiple locations. The Festival team also responds directly to 911 calls for people calling from within the festival.

Identifying Volunteers

Volunteers will be wearing vibrant, hot-pink shirts clearly labeled “Volunteer” on the backs. 

Community Stages, Parties & Zones

San Francisco City Hall PartyThe 54th Annual San Francisco LGBTQ Pride Party is at City Hall on Sunday from 1-5 pm. The entrance for this party is on the Van Ness side of City Hall.

Root of Pride, the Adults-only area, can be found on Golden Gate Avenue in the area from Larkin to Leavenworth. It also is on Hyde and Larkin Streets between Golden Gate Ave and McAllister Street.

This year, for the first time there is a Cannabis themed tent called “HottBox” in front of the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on Grove Street between Larkin and Park.

The Leather Community has the area on Hyde between Golden Gate and Turk. This area features a large 30’ x 50’ tent for shade and camaraderie.

Food Vendors 

Food vendors are concentrated along McAllister within Civic Center Plaza. San Francisco Pride has worked hard to build strategies for relieving congestion and making food likes shorter this year!

Take a Break Spaces

Both low sensory Low sensory and sober spaces are available. 

There is also a Recovery area next to the Medical Tent by the Bill Graham Civic Center Auditorium 

Family Friendly Areas

The majority of Pride is family-friendly. There is a Youth Stage on Saturday at Grove and Van Ness. 

Assisted Mobility Device / Wheelchair Re-Charging Stations 

Friendly Shout Out:  Plugs for charging wheelchairs and assisted mobility devices are available at the Medical Center in the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. Please bring your cords and charging adapters for your devices.

Transit

Several streets close for the Pride Parade and Festival. BART and MUNI are running, there are some MUNI and Bus re-routings downtown.
